Be Safe, Be Respectful in the Outdoors

Rio Grande Gorge - New Mexico
Ahh, the outdoors. As public lands and recreational areas reopen in New Mexico, we at New Wave Rafting would like to remind residents to be respectful of these places and continue to take precautions to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Above all, as social distancing becomes the norm for everyone, it’s important to remember there are ways to stay active. What is there to do when schools and businesses are closed?

GET OUTDOORS!

To enjoy New Mexico’s beautiful outdoors, it’s essential that the public practices responsible recreation. It’s important to follow recreation guidelines issued by the state office and the Outdoor Recreation Division of the Economic Development Department. Therefore, when determining where you’ll go, outdoor places with wide-open spaces and a lot of fresh air are obviously ideal. Just consider whether your destination might be swarmed with people. Instead, choose lesser-known nature destinations so that social distancing is easier.
  • Do follow all the CDC guidelines.
  • Don’t go to public places if your feeling sick.
  • Do bring all the gear, resources, food and emergency supplies you will need.
  • Don’t be social: Don’t shake hands, high five, or get close to others.
  • Do be flexible: Consider alternate activities to separate you from the crowds.
  • Don’t share gear, water or food.
  • Like wildlife, keep a safe distance and DO wash your hands.

In conclusion, lessen your exposure by joining New Wave Rafting and our private Inflatable Kayak (funyak) rentals on the Rio Grande of  New Mexico. Below is a short video of what could be your families’ outdoor experience.
