Britt Runyon

Britt Runyon Huggins is the Owner, Photographer and Videographer of New Wave Rafting LLC. He began his career with New Wave in 1983. He has done all sorts of things in his life and all of them well, including kayaking, snowboarding, SCUBA diving and rock climbing. In the 80’s and 90’s during the off season he worked at the University of New Mexico Hospital as a Trauma Nurse Specialist. He is a PADI certified dive instructor, often spending the winter at some Caribbean get-away. Being certified by American Mountain Guide Association has opened the door to many climbing endeavors around the world. There is practically nothing he can’t do. Jon Asher

River Guide/Customer Service

Rio Grande river guide.

Jon Asher began his river journey after meeting a group of friends from Durango and running the wild Dolores River in early spring. His love of rivers eventually led him to New Mexico and the Rio Grande. Jon started Kokopelli Rafting in 1991 and ran the company until 2002. “There is no place that I love more, working with guides and guests on the river. This is my tribe.”  Jon lives in Taos New Mexico with his wife Janet and Labrador Retrievers Finn and Gracie. They enjoy hiking the mountains and running rivers. Joey Coburn

Our river guide Joey.

Joey Coburn has been with New Wave since 2011. Having his own raft and with an insatiable spirit of adventure, he spends his days off running the rivers of New Mexico and Colorado. During the school year, Joey Coburn is an Instructor of Mathematics at Eastern New Mexico University, Roswell.

 

 


Orlando Torres

River Guide

Orlando exited New York City arriving Taos, NM, in 1984. After graduating high school he became a guide for New Wave Rafting. “My passion for working outdoors with people on the water has brought a fun understanding of the inescapable net of mutuality that we are bound to as a species on this planet.”  Winters are spent at the Taos Ski Valley teaching skiing/snowboarding and working the adaptive programs for special needs children in the Special Olympics Program. He is an artist and makes custom jewelry with his wife, Nicole, which can be viewed @livingimagejewelry on Instagram.


Ben Rainchild

River Guide

Guide on the Rio Grande, New Mexico.

Ben Rainchild, resides in Pot Creek, New Mexico, surrounded by forests, mountains, rivers, streams, the Rio Grande, and spicy NM food. Ben is a river man with endless passion for fast water and exercise. “I love it so much, it’s all I do. I wake up in the morning after dreaming of adventure, ready to go and I find it every day!” Ben has traveled the USA, climbing and mountain biking. “I climbed every day and did yoga. I ate curry and meditated while camping in a van a the river and used that time to re-write myself and find new direction.”

Sarib Jot Khalsa

Sarib Jot, New Wave Rafting river guide.

Sarib Jot is from Northern New Mexico. She grew up swimming in the Rio Grande and skiing in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. She spent her highschool years in Northern India studying Yoga and hiking the Himalayas. After graduating high school, she attended Santa Fe Community College and earned her license in emergency medicine. Having her EMT Intermediate she has worked on the Santa Fe Ski Patrol and pre-hospital emergency care. She loves spending time in the outdoors and in or on the water so becoming a whitewater guide for New Wave Rafting was an obvious choice.


Rui Gonzalez

Rui Gonzalez, aka “Baby Rui”( New Wave Rafting’s youngest guide), was born and raised in Santa Fe New Mexico and has a great love for the outdoors. He’s always been super athletic, playing competitive soccer in high school and studying the culinary arts. Following graduation from high school, he moved to Eastern Sierra’s in California for half a year which sparked his desire for seasonal work and rock climbing. In the winter months he works as a snowboard instructor at Taos Ski Valley. “I’m always looking forward for the next adventure!”

Danny Addona

Danny’s passion for river fun started in high school canoeing the Delaware River in up state New York! Danny moved to Jackson hole Wyoming in 1999 to ski and big game hunt. He befriended many of the river guides and started to learn the art of river guiding! He views the sport with an open mind to constantly learn and have an awesome time! Moving to the southern Rockies during 2020 he meet up with New Wave Rafting! “It’s a super river to work on with several sections of the Rio Grande available to raft! The technical aspect of guiding through rapids is a challenge and great fun!”.


Sally Pryor

Sally Quinn is from Virginia Beach, VA. Accomplishments include hiking the length of the Appalachian Trail, rescued and trained a mother horse and her colt, and survived being slapped across the face with a live shark. Her goals include riding from Mexico to Canada on her horse, Mercury. She has been on the water her entire life as a competitive swimmer, sailor, lifeguard, canoe guide, and recently took the plunge to specialize in the rafting industry in 2020. She enjoys snowmobiling and looks forward to a season of professional horse grooming on the winter show circuit.

Socia Morrish graduated at the top of the class in New Wave’s 2019 Guide Training Program. Her love for guiding runs deep and it shows. In the winter she’s at Montana State University and majoring in Anthropology! Being an avid backcountry skier, she’s also working toward becoming a member of the Ski Patrol at Bridger Bowl in Bozeman Montana. Socia quote “Just like skiing, rafting provides me an outlet to express myself, spend time around new personalities and find serenity in the dazzling outdoors.”
