Meets at the Rio Grande Gorge Visitor Center In Pilar, on Hwy 68, 30 minutes south of Taos, and one and a half hours north of Santa Fe. See directions from Santa Fe to the river below. Coodinates: N 36* 16.077' W 105* 47.314 Note: If you are coming from the north for any other trip, continue for another 5+ miles to the County Line.

From the north (Taos) Take Hwy. 68 south from Taos. After descending to the river, you will see the Rio Grande Gorge Visitor Center to the left. This is NOT the meeting place. Continue for 5+ miles to the County Line, and park to the right after passing this sign: "County Line River Access" (see photo above). Park in the upper lot. |

From the south (Santa Fe) Leave Santa Fe on St. Francis Drive, heading north. It becomes Hwy. 84/285. Continue north to Espanola. The highway to Taos - Hwy 68 - begins at the first stop light in Espanola. Look for the sign that indicates Taos to be straight ahead. Continue straight through Espanola. As you leave Espanola you will pass the Ohkay Casino, on your right. Note the mile markers and continue north to Mile 24, passing through Embudo and then Rinconada, at Mile 22. At the County Line, pull into the lot on the left. Minimum driving time from Santa Fe is one and a quarter hours. Park in the upper lot.

Take Interstate 25 north from the Albuquerque area. To bypass Santa Fe and save a little time, look for the sign below,
as you approach Santa Fe. Take 599 north around Santa Fe. Follow the signs to Espanola as you turn onto 599 and
as you exit 599 to US 84/285. Follow the directions above (From the south (Santa Fe)), from the point where you
join US 84/285. We strongly recommend that you give yourself no less than 2 and a quarter hours for the trip to the
County Line meeting place and two and a half hours to the Rio Grande Gorge Visitor Center meeting place (Taos Box meeting place), from the Albuquerque area.
